Ikea Isreal has teamed up with non-profit organizations Milbat and Access Isreal to develop ThisAbles, a series of 3D printed add-ons to Ikea furniture to help people with special needs and disabilities.
So far there are 13 designs including a curtain gripper, couch lift, glass bumper and more. Not only are they welcoming suggestions for more designs, but you can also download the design files for yourself and get them 3D printed.
Ikea has always been a forward-thinking design company. With this project, they’ve combined technology and design to tackle a problem with their product. Their mission statement is to “create a better everyday life for as many people as possible.” This project is definitely a great initiative.
